| Hailed by Opera News as "one of the hottest tenors on the international scene", Argentinian sensation Marcelo Álvarez has literally shot into stardom in the past few years after leaving his hometown of Cordoba (and his job in a furniture factory!) at the age of 30 to embark on an operatic career. The pure and innate beauty of Álvarez's voice was bolstered by a fierce dedication to mastering his new art. Within a few short years, he was singing leading roles on the stages of the world's greatest opera houses, from Milan's La Scala to the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires. The Metropolitan Opera chose Alvarez to star in Franco Zeffirelli's new production of La Traviata, and at London's Royal Opera, Covent Garden, critics reached for superlatives to describe his performances in Rigoletto and Les Contes d'Hoffmann.
Readers of the Italian magazine L'Opera voted Marcel Alvarez the "Best Tenor of the Year 2003"!
Manon has been selected as Album of the Week on Classic FM in the UK next week (week of 11/10)!
